19-03-2016, Tirumala Hills: On the pleasing evening of Saturday Lord Rama, Sita matha, Lakshmana and Anjaneya swamy was taken for a spiritual ride on the beautifully decorated float on the waters of Swamy Pushkarini in Tirumala Hills.
History: Dated to 1468 A.D old inscription says that the Son of one “Saluva Gundaya Deva Maharaja Udayar”, “Sriman Maha Mandaleswara Medini Misraganda Kathhari Saluva Narasimha Raju Udayar” built Vasanta Mantapam in the middle of Swami Pushkarani Teertham in Tirumala Hills. Even today also the Teppa Utsavam starts from this mandapam.
Earlier this festival was celebrated for nine days. But now the festival is celebrated for only 5 days by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao, JEO Tml Mr.KS Sreenivasa Raju, TTD Trust Board Member Mr.DP Anantha, Temple DyEO Mr.Chinnamgari Ramana, Peishkar Mr.R Selvam, Parpathyedar Mr.Ramachandra, VGO Mr.Raveendra Reddy and large number of devotees took part in the event.
