Anam Ramanarayana Reddy

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy was born on 10 July 1952 in Nellore to Anam Venkata Reddy. He belongs to the Indian National Congress. He has B.Com and B.L. degrees.

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy was elected to the Assembly from the Atmakur Assembly Constituency of Nellore district during the 2009 elections. He changed his constituency from Rapur to Atmakur after delimitation came into force in 2009. Anam Rama Narayan Reddy has been given a Finance portfolio in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s cabinet. Ramanarayan Reddy was elected twice from Rapur on the ticket of the Telugu Desam party and also served as Minister for Roads and Buildings in NT Ramarao’s cabinet. He joined in Congress Party in 1991 and established himself as a key politician in the district that consist of politically strong Nedurumalli and Mekapati families.

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has many rivals among the Congress leaders of the district. Mekapati brothers have been trying to dominate the political space of the district. Presently, Ramanarayana Reddy, along with his MLA brother Vivekananda Reddy is having the upper hand over other groups in the district Congress party. His other brother is the president of the Nellore Town Congress Committee. He is a staunch follower of the late Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and served as minister for IPR, APFDC, Cinematography and Municipal Administration in YSR’s cabinet.
