Loyal Garuda Invites Deities to his Master’s Fete, Religious Fervor marks the Traditional Flag Hoisting Ceremony.
Tirumala 03/10/16: The salakatla brahmotsavas of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy of the holy place Tirumala are commenced on a very special note of the religion with the hoisting of the Garuda flag in the ceremony in Meena Lagnam that is between 6:15 pm to 6:30 pm in the evening of Tuesday in the Tirumala Temple.
Invitation to all Deities:
As the vaikhanasa agama, the temple pillar dhwajastamba is installed with the flag of Garuda with the chanting of the Garuda Gayatri Mantram by all the priests of the temple. The entire temple has flows and vibrated in devotion with the chanting of the priests.
“Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Suvarnapakshaya Dhimahi Tanno Garudah Pracchodayat”.
Muganna Offered:
Later the lord is offered with a prasadam that is specially made of rice called as Mudagannam. The hoisting of this Garuda Pathaka or the flag is an indication that the king has invited all the deities from all the three worlds for witnessing the festival that is being held for nine days to enjoy the celebration of their beloved Master.
