About Kaigal Waterfalls | Waterfalls in Chittoor Tirupati

Kaigal-WaterfallsIt is popularly known as Kaigal falls in reference to the Kaigal village situated about 2.5 kilometers from the Falls. Locally the falls is called as Dumukuralla Water Falls. The Telugu name Dumukurallu water falls came into Prominence because of its sound resembling the fall of stones from above.

The waterfall is natural, perennial and water comes from a big rock at a height of 40 feet, irrespective of seasons. But its force and beauty is increased during the annual Monsoon season. There are several natural ponds below the falls. Its situation in a forest gives it and added advantage with natural unspoiled surroundings with plenty of exotic birds, shrubs, trees and wildlife.

The falls is formed by the Kaigal stream which is one of the two streams to flow in the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, the other being Koudinya stream.

Kaigal village is situated on the Kuppam – Palamaner Highway. As you drive from Kuppam the village comes on the right site and the fall is about 2.5 kilometers from the village. There is a mud road leading to very close to the falls from where a short distance of walk will take you to the falls. Best season to visit is between June and October during the peak rain season. The falls is particularly popular picnic destination for people from surrounding areas. its very vast falls in AP.

How to reach Kaigal waterfall
Kaigal waterfall is the name of the bus stop where you need to alight, is on the Palamaner – Kuppam road at a distance of 28 km from Palamaner and 59 km from Kuppam.

You could come from Bangalore or Chennai by train and get off at Kuppam. From Kuppam, take a bus going towards Palamaner (1 to 1.5 hrs journey time).

You could come from Bangalore, Chennai or Madanapally by bus and get off at Palamaner. From Palamaner, take a bus going to Kuppam (1 to 1.5 hrs journey time).

From the Kaigal Waterfalls bus stop, you have a 10 minute walk on the mud road leading to the waterfalls to reach.

Bangalore – Kolar – Palamaneru – turn right to Kuppam road 5 kms before Palamenru – turn left after 23 KMs to mud road – travel for a kilometer by vehicle & then another kilometer by walk to reach the falls.

Or
Bangalore – KGF – V Kota – head towards Palamaner – turn right 28 kms before Palamenr to the mud road.
