Shivaram Wildlife Sanctuary Karimnagar Telangana Tourism

The Shivaram Wildlife Sanctuary is yet another adventurous tourist place in Telangana. This place is around 10 kms from Manthani. The interesting part of the Sanctuary is that it comes under two districts in Telangana, i.e. Adilabad and Karimnagar. The sanctuary runs into an area of 37 square kilometers. Established in 1987, the sanctuary is more popular for its rich population of Marsh Crocodiles. The sanctuary provides the most suitable conditions for the existence and the breeding of these reptiles. Being a basin of the River Godavari, it brings about the most favorable conditions like fertility of the area, availability of fresh water and the comfortable weather conditions for the reptiles to live and breed. Though there are other animals in the wild, these reptiles, also known as mugger are the most viewed animals I the sanctuary.

The other viewed animals that enjoy the wild like yet secured environment Tiger, Langur, Rhesus Monkey, Sloth Bear, Cheetal, and Sambar. One may also find the Pythons in the grasslands of the sanctuary. These and many more varieties of herbivores and carnivores exist in the sanctuary in their natural surroundings.

The greenery in the sanctuary is mostly the gift of River Godavari. The riverine forest in the sanctuary is blessed with many varieties of flora as well. These include Teak, Terminalia, Bamboo, Anogeissus, and Cassia.
This tourist place is far away from the city dust and pollution and other urban disturbances. The lush and green forest is refreshing to the eyes and the mind. The place should be visited between the months November- April. The cooler environment owing to decreased temperatures during that time keeps the beasts in a good mood. The sightings are therefore better and more enjoyable. Only the petrol cars are allowed inside the sanctuary. Hence the tourists have the option of availing their own car and transport facilities as well for the jungle safari. The jungle safari proves quite exciting to the visitors. Sighting the wild in their natural environment adds excitement to the general adventures of the tourists.

The Marsh crocodiles are special attractions in the sanctuary. The population of these reptiles finds this place a favorable breeding place.

Where to stay:
Accommodation is not a problem for the visitors and tourists to this place. One may find comfortable accommodation at Mancherial town. This nearest town, i.e. Mancherial is around 50 kms away from the sanctuary. Besides the hotels and lodges in Mancherial, Eklaspur in Manthani provides the rest house facilities to the visitors.

How to reach:
There are direct bus services to Mancherial and Manthani from all major cities in Telangana. Tourists can hire private transports from Mancherial or Manthani to reach the sanctuary. These cities also have proper rail and air networks. The international airport at Hyderabad is around 184 km from Manthani.

Nearest Railway Station:
The Ramagundam and Raghavapuram railway stations are the nearest ones from Manthani. These are around 28 kms from the city. The Mancherail Railway station is around 50 kms from the sanctuary.
