Sree Maha Mariamman Temple Singapore

Sree Maha Mariamman Features:

The most popular legend about Sri Maha Mariamman is related to Sri Renuka Devi, the consort of a great Sage Jamathagni Munivar, who is regarded as the Father of Lord Parasuraman, a reincarnation of Lord Vishnu.

The Sree Maha Mariamman installed in our Temple is unique and of high significance. Originally emerged from Lord Shiva, the Goddess manifested in our moral world in order to destroy the devil forces led by Marasuras and to restore justice. She is the embodiment of Lord Siva. She is seated in our elegant temple in Yishun, with Her left leg folded and the right leg rested, as the celestial Queen of the entire universe. With such grace and enchanting smile, She is lovingly addressed as

Sree Seethala Maha Mariamman:

Her Ornamental Armaments: Magnificently consecrated, with illuminating locks, elegant appearance and beautiful postures, She resides joyfully in Her divine and dazzling golden abode as Sree Maha Mariamman.

She is encircled by 27 invisible Karbavarna Deva forces concealed in Her Sanctum Sanctorum, with Her unique Akshara manifestations, as sculptures are unseen anywhere, at Her gigantic Vimanam. Within the Maha Mandapam, Her 16 forms of Shodasa Sakthi’s are installed. Her 108 Sakthi’s are symbolized by 108 Golden Pinnacles. Their eternal presence is depicted as colorful carvings in the temple halls. The 108 Sakthi Peedhams are eternally present and are spiritually preserved within Sree Maha Mariamman Herself.

To conceptualise Her in a central universal expression, the Temple was architecturally redesigned, depicting Sree Ganapathy on Her right lap and Sree Murugan on the left. New sanctums for Lord Siva and Sree Venkateshwara on Her right and left represent the Great Mount Kailash and Sree Vaikundam.

In the diverse forms of the Trinity, She is Laxmi, Saraswathy and Sree Durga, and amidst them the Divine mid-wife Periyachi. She, as Navagraha Nayagi, rules the planets and is encircled by serpents as the sacred thread. She caresses Lord Ayyapa and Sree Anjaneyar fondly with Her intellectual brilliance eternally radiant with the new installation of Sree Metha Dakshinamoorthy.

Thus, the verse from Kaarana Agama declares, “Mara Sura Vathothyutha Maha Marithee Naamnathaha”.
