About ISKCON Temple Nasik:

Nasik is a pilgrimage center that is famous for being the place where Lord Ramchandra, Mother Sita and Laxman had their transcendental hobbies. The story of the Krishna Consciousness movement began when Lord Chaitanya visited Nasik and Trimbakeshwar 500 years ago while returning from a tour of southern India (CC Madhya 9.137). But the seeds of ISKCON were planted personally by the founder Acharya HDG A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1971. He and his American disciples performed the parikrama of the holy places around Nasik. Prabhupada preached to thousands of citizens and his American disciples distributed books and played Nagar Sankirtan.

Officially, the activities of ISKCON began on the occasion of the Year of the Centenary of Prabhupada by H.G. Paramhans Das. He preached alone in Nasik and in 1997 he established a small center. Preaching has developed mainly through youth preaching, Bhakti Vriksha programs, book distribution and the simultaneous development of congregations in 3-4 years. And soon in 2005, a small and beautiful temple was built with the help of the devotees of the congregation. The presiding deities of Nasik Sri Sri Gaur Nitai were welcomed in 1999 in a small center. Mass preaching programs took place regularly between 1998 and 1999, such as the Mega Janmastami Festival, Gaur Poornima, Ram Navami and Pushpa Abisheka, in which thousands of people participated.

Now, under the guidance of H.G Shikshastakam Das, the preaching is flourishing. ISKCON Nasik focuses mainly on the preaching to the development of youth and congregation. There are 25 full-time Brahmacharis involved in youth preaching and congregational development programs. There is a regular Sunday Feast and Wednesday’s Gitamrita classes are held weekly, attended by hundreds of regular devotees. IYF (Iskcon Youth Forum) Nasik organizes monthly Prerna festivals for children, and about 500 students attend each month. Chetna Festival is organized for girls. The IYF organizes corporate seminars for professionals and organizes a special program of congregational development called Parivartan. There is a 6-day basic Gita course for beginners; Hare Krishna Festival and Bhagavat Saptah are held regularly in the city. There are also BACE facilities for students, where 200 students receive spiritual wisdom with sanctified pure foods. ISKCON Nasik distributes thousands of Srila Prabhupadas books throughout the city.

The 12 years of preaching culminated with the installation of the deities of His Lordship Sri Sri Radha MadanGopal on March 23, 2011.

ISKCON Nasik plays an active role during Kumbha Mela helping ISKCON activities such as book distribution, preaching and food for life. Nasik is a place of pilgrimage, lakhs of pilgrims regularly visit the place. Thousands of people take the Darshan and the blessings of Sri Sri Radha Madangopal and the teachings of Srila Prabhupada for a divine, peaceful and happy life.
