Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple in Durgamitta is a very famous Ammavari temple located at Durgamitta in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The presiding deity in this temple is Sri Rajarajeswari Ammavaru. Devi Navaratrulu (Dussera) is the most festival celebrated in this temple. Thousands of devotees throng temple on these holy days. The temple will be crowded on festival days, Navaratri festival days, Karthika Masam.

The temple is known for Rahu Kala Deepam. It is believed that wishes will be fulfilled if the lemon-ghee lamp is lit during Rahu Kalam every Friday for 18 weeks. Devotees used to lit lamps in the temple premises and perform pradakshinam to the deity. Chandi Homam will be performed daily.

Nellore Sri RajaRajeswari Temple Story:

Sri Arul Jyothi Nagaraja Murthy Peetadhipathi of Sri Raja Rajeswari Peetam in Arcot district of Tamil Nadu was traveling to Vijayawada in 1965. He became tired and took a rest at Durgamitta. While taking rest he felt the presence of Goddess Rajarajeswari Devi in the land opposite to him and asked the local peoples to construct a temple on the same land.

Mr.Ratnaswamy Mudaliar took permission from the then Collector and constructs the temple in the same year. In 1985 the Endowment department has taken over control.

  2. I am the native of Nellore city. As I lost my two wives in the year 1991 and 2020 respectively, I want to donate the money to perform yearly poojas on their names, on their Death Dates regularly.
