Juhu ISKCON Temple Hours, History

The Juhu ISKCON Temple, also known as Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari Temple is located just a stone’s throw from Juhu Beach, is one of the most beautiful temples in India dedicated to Sri Krishna. The temple complex is spread over four acres of land and houses Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari, and Sri Sri Sita Rama Laxman Hanuman deities, which were personally installed by the founder of ISKCON, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Initially, the idea of constructing a temple in the remote and dark part of Juhu seemed impossible. However, with determination, Srila Prabhupada acquired the land and promised to build a beautiful temple for the deities. The temple now boasts marble domes over a hundred feet high, a silver simhasana, and a teakwood altar for Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari.

Despite being situated in the bustling city of Mumbai, the Juhu ISKCON Temple is a spiritual oasis for visitors seeking solace from the material world. The complex includes a large marble temple, a newly renovated auditorium, a huge restaurant, and a seven-story guest house with twin beds, where visitors can stay and participate in the temple’s daily spiritual programs.

Since its opening in 1978, the Juhu ISKCON Temple has become one of the most visited temples in the country. It continues to attract devotees and tourists from around the world who come to witness the grandeur of the temple and seek spiritual enlightenment.

Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari Temple History:

The Juhu ISKCON Temple has a fascinating history that dates back to the early 1970s. At that time, the Juhu area of Mumbai was considered remote and underdeveloped, and it was difficult to imagine building a temple there. However, the founder of ISKCON, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, saw the potential in the area and acquired the land where the temple now stands.

Initially, the temple was a simple hut that housed the deities Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari. Srila Prabhupada promised the deities that he would build a beautiful temple for them, and he asked his followers to construct a silver simhasana and a teakwood altar for them.

Despite facing many obstacles, Srila Prabhupada’s followers worked tirelessly to build a magnificent temple complex on the Juhu property. The temple was inaugurated in 1978, and it has since become one of the most visited spiritual destinations in India.

The Juhu ISKCON Temple is not only a place of worship but also a center for spiritual education and social welfare activities. It is open to people of all faiths, and visitors can participate in the temple’s daily spiritual programs, which include kirtans, bhajans, and discourses on the Bhagavad Gita.

Today, the Juhu ISKCON Temple stands as a symbol of faith and devotion, attracting millions of visitors from all over the world.
