About Chaitra Purnima Puja:
For Hindus, all Purnima Tithis are considered auspicious and have something special to celebrate. According to Hindu lunar calendar, Chaitra Purnima is considered as the first Purnima in the year. Chaitra Purnima comes after Ugadi and Gudi Padwa.
Hanuman Jayanti, which is celebrated as birth anniversary of Hanuman, falls on Chaitra Purnima day.
On Purnima day, people worship Lord Satyanarayana, an extremely compassionate manifestation of Lord Vishnu, and observe Satyanarayana fasting.
On Purnima Tithi, many communities observe a day long fast according to their traditions known as Kul Parampara, which are the family traditions followed from generation to generation.
Chaitra Purnima is different from Chitra Purnima, which is fixed according to Tamil Solar calendar. These two Purnima days usually occur in two different months.
