Sri Raghavendra Swamy was born in 1595 to Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta. The great saint was the incarnation of Prahalada, the son of Hiranyakaship and the great bhakta of Sri Maha Vishnu, who was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri, Tamilnadu.
After serving the world and the Lord all his life, Sri Raghavendra Swamy attained Jeeva Samadhi in 1671. This happened in Krishna Paksha’s Dwitiya in the month of Shravana. The Brindavana which houses samadhi is located at Raghavendra Mutt in Mantralayam, Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, and is visited by hundreds and thousands of devotees every year. The day of his Samadhi is celebrated as the name of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhana.
