3 February 2015 Tirupati: The five-day annual Theppotsavam festival ended at Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple in Tirupati on Tuesday. The processional deities of Sri Govindaraja Swamy along with his consorts were taken around mada streets in tirupati rounding the holy shire in grand procession before reaching the venue, Sri Vari Pushkarini (the temple tank). Later, the god and goddess were mounted on the colourfully illuminated Float, and were dragged around the holy tank amidst with great religious fervor from 6.30 PM to 7.30 PM. Tens of thousands of devotees assembled on the holy steps of the temple tank to see the utsavam, hours in advance to enjoy the colourful festival. While asthana vidwans played the nadaswaram’ the temple priests recited verses from the holy scriptures. This Float festival lasted for more than one hour.
Tirupati Joint Executive Officer Sri Pola Bhaskar, Temple DyEO Sri Chandrasekhar Pillai, Exe Engg Sri Jagadeeswara Reddy and devotees took part.
