The history of town school is related to the rousing of the individuals of Hyderabad United Nations agency completed the importance of education and established the primary town college within the Dar-ul-uloom as early as 1865, that was later, reborn into a town high school. The college captive into this grand structure in 1921.Intermediate sections (F.A) of Osmania University with thirty students were introduced in 1921 beneath the superintendence of the high school with Urdu because the medium of instruction.
In 1929, the college was upgraded to a university and was named as “City College”. It became a constituent school of Osmania University. Resultant to the abolishment of the Intermediate course (F.A) in Osmania University within the year 1956, the Pre-University Course (P.U.C) was introduced. The B.Sc courses were introduced in 1962 and therefore the establishment was named as “City Science College”. Town school was confiscated by the govt. from Osmania University in 1965 and was renamed as “Government town Science College”.
In 1967, B.A and B.Com courses were further and therefore the school became “Government Town College”. Within the year 1986, physical science subject was introduced in B.Sc. In 1997, Industrial biological science, a business course sponsored by UGC was introduced. In 1998, it took the lead in introducing socially relevant restructured courses like Biotechnology, organic chemistry, B.Sc (Computer Science), B.Com (Computer Applications), B.A commercial enterprise and Travel Management, B.A workplace Management. Post Graduate courses, M.Sc Biotechnology (2001) and M.Sc arithmetic (2003), are introduced.
The academic atmosphere of this city college establishment is increased by the exemplary achievements of its outstanding Alumni. Union cupboard Ministers like Sri Shivaraj Patil, Sri P.
