The Sangameshwara Swamy Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Trimurti attracts many visitors throughout the year. Trimurti means combined form of Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva. The famous temple is located in the Jharasangam town in the north-western part of Sangareddy in Medak District in Telangana. The presiding deity in the temple is Lord Trimurti, who is the combined form of Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva.
There are some stories behind the creation of this temple. The temple is said to date back to the ‘Krutha Yuga’. The surya vamsham king, Raja Kupendra had some skin ailments that got cured using the water from the stream flowing through Kethaki Vanam or Kethaki Flower Forest. He had a dream where Lord Sangameshwara had instructed him to construct a sanatorium on a Shiva Lingam in the Kethaki Vanam. The king got the temple constructed right above the Shiva Lingam as per the instructions. This Shiva Lingam was said to be created by Lord Brahma. The stream was also turned into a holy place. It was converted into a Pushkarini and was known as “Astha Theertha Amrutha Gundam” and “Dakshina Kasi”.
It is said that Lord Brahma had visited this place for his meditation after creating the World. There is also the unique tradition of offering the Kethaki leaves to the Shiva Lingam here. These leaves are not offered to the Shiva Lingam elsewhere.
Devotees from all corners of Telangana visit this place for worshipping Lord Trimurti. Devotees from the neighboring states of Karnataka and Maharashtra also visit the temple.
