Sanskrit Diwas, also known as Sanskrit Day, is observed to commemorate the importance of Sanskrit language. Sanskrit Diwas is observed on the Shravana Purnima day according to Hindu lunar calendar.
Sanskrit Day was first observed in 1969. Seminars, workshops and a variety of activities are organized on the day of Sanskrit Diwas to promote Sanskrit language. Presently, the usage of Sanskrit has been limited to only Puja rituals and academic activities.
