About Tulsidas Jayanti Festival:
Tulsidasl, who was believed to be lived between 1497 and 1623 C.E.), was a famous Hindu saint and poet renowned for his deep devotion towards Lord Rama. He composed several works, but the most popular among them is the epic Ramcharitmanas, where he had retold the Sanskrit epic Ramayana in the vernacular Awadhi language.
Tulsidas was regarded as a reincarnation of Maharishi Valmiki, the author of the original Ramayana in Sanskrit. It was Tulsidas who composed Hanuman Chalisa, which is a popular devotional hymn in Awadhi dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
Most of the life of Tulsidas was spent in the city of Varanasi. As a mark of respect, the famous Tulsi Ghat on the Ganges River in Varanasi is named after him. Sankatmochan Temple, a famous temple dedicated to God Hanuman, is believed to be founded by Tulsidas.
As per Hindu lunar calendar, Tulsidas was born on Shukla Paksha Saptami in Shravana month, and this day is observed as his birth anniversary . Tulsidas is also known by the name Goswami Tulsidas.
