Bol Choth is observed on Krishna Chaturthi in Shravan month. It is mainly celebrated in the state of Gujarat. Bol Choth occurs one day before of popular Nag Pancham day in Gujarat. The day is celebrated mainly for the welfare of cows and calves.

On the day of Bol Choth, people observe a day long fast. In the evening, they worship cows and calves. It is believed that by observing such rituals, people will be blessed with off-springs, wealth and prosperity. Devotees who observe Bol Choth fasting strictly refrain from drinking milk and eating milk-made products.

Bol Choth is popular as Bahula Chaturthi in Madhya Pradesh and some other states.

Rituals of Bahula Chauth:
The farming community consume specialties prepared from millet Bahula Chauth. A special event associated with the celebration of Bahula Chauth is that families usually cook under the open sky that day. The same is consumed on the terrace only. The consumption of milk is forbidden on the occasion of Bahula Chauth. Dairy products also taken on the day of the festival.
