Shri Vallabhacharya (1479-1531 C.E.), also known as Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, was a devotional philosopher, who founded the Pushti sect in India. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna who worshipped Shrinathji form of Lord Krishna.
Vallabhacharya was born in Kashi, the modern Varanasi, in 1479 A.D. in a Telugu Brahmin family. As per Purnimant lunar calendar followed in North India, he was born on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Vaishakha month. As per Amanta lunar calendar, his birth was on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Chaitra month. Only the names of the months differ in different calendars, but the birth anniversary falls on the same day.
The day of his birth anniversary also coincides with Varuthini Ekadashi.
