About Kattumadam Mana:
Kattumadam Mana has been associated with Manthrik and Tantrik rituals for a long time. It is one of the six Namboothiri families in Kerala who received blessings from Lord Parasurama and consented to perform Manthrik and Tantrik rituals.

Kattumadam Mana History:
Kattumadam Mana has its roots from Kannur in northern Kerala. It is believed that the family relocated to Valiyakunnu in Malappuram district about five hundred years ago. Two brothers of the family relocated to Vanneri and Valiyakunnu of Malappuram district which named them Moothedath and Ilayidath Kattumadam respectively. Some members of the Ilayidath Kattumadam are still residing at Kannur, near Pallikkunnu Mookambika Temple.
Kattumadam Mana Rituals:
Kattumadam worships Goddess Durga in Mahishasuramardhini form, inside the Naalukett of the Illam and Lord Kuttichatha outside the house in a tree. The rituals being done here are transparent and are harmless to anyone, Kattumadam believes not to use the Manthras to hurt or ruin other’s happiness. Remedial actions such as Homa’s, Aavahanas are performed here according to the astrological instructions. In addition to performing poojas and Manthrik-Tantrik rituals, they are the Thanthri of more than one hundred and fifty temples across Kerala.
