10 March 2015 Tirupati: Surya Pujotsavam a special religious festival will be starting from 24 March to 28 March of this year.
Traditional story says the main deity is in Matsyavatara which is the first avatar of Lord Vishnu. Only at this period the Sun Rays will touch the body of Lord in a geometrical manner. On the first day the Sun Rays will fall on the feet, on the second day the rays fall on the stomach and on third day the rays falls over the head of the deity which is located almost 650 feet inside sanctum Santorum.
Apart from its religious significance the fall of Sun Rays to inner most part of the temple from such an incredible distance is an architectural surprise. Thousands of devotees from neighbouring states and near by villages will also converge during these days to catch a glimpse of this factual marvel.
Matsya Jayanthi will be observed on 22 March and the annual teppotsavams will start from 24 March and ends on 28 March between 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm every day in the sacred waters of temple tank.
