Thirukutralam is also known as Kutralam Temple, Thiru Courtrallanathar Swamy Temple and Kutralam Kutraleeswaran Temple Opening hours may change on certain days. Lord Shiva is the main deity and he is swayamabu. Kutralam Moolavar is Kuttrala Nathar and Goddess / Amman / Thaya are Kuzhalvai Mozhi, Parasakthi (two Ambica shrines). The temple Thala Virutcham is a Jack tree – Kurumpala in Tamil. The temple Theerthams are Shiva Madhu Ganga, North falls, River Chitra and the temple is 1000-2000 years old.

Lord Siva sent Agastya Maharshi, to south India to avoid an imbalance due to the overpopulation of Mount Kailas during his celestial marriage. Thirukutralam is the location of Chithra Sabha, one of the five Sabha temples, where Nataraja performed his famous cosmic dance. The five dance halls of Shiva are Chidambaram, Madurai, Thiruvalangadu, Tirunelveli and Kutralam.

Every day the temple is open from 6.00 am to 12.00 Noon and from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm.

Free entry to Darshan. Abhishekam / Archanai tickets can be purchased upon arrival at the ticket counter on the same day Pooja.
