Trishula Snanam In Kapila Teertham

19 February 2015 Tirupati: On thursday Trishula Snanam has been performed with religious passion in Kapila teertham Lord Shiva temple in Tirupati. Like Chakrasnanam in Vaishnava temples which is usually performed to Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar, Trishula Snanam is performed in Shiva’s temples.

After performing snapanam to the utsavarulu and the prime weapon Trishul of Lord Shiva, the holy Trishula of Trident is immersed one holy waters of the temple tank by chanting veda mantrad by the temple priests as per Saivagama at 11 am. Large number of devotees who present to witness the holy ceremony immersed in waters at the auspicious moment of immersion of Trishulam by chanting “HARA HARA MAHA DEVA SAMBHO SANKARA”.

Meanwhile Trishula -the trident represents the three basic features of life. These are the three basic dimensions of life which might be symbolized in many ways. They may also be known as Ida, Pingala and Sushumna. These are the three primary nadis – the left, the best and the central – within the pranamaya kosha, or the energy physique of the human system. Nadis are pathways or channels of prana in side the system. There are seventy two thousand nadis that spring from the three basic ones and decides the life cycle of a human being. So Trishula-the chief weapon of Lord Shiva signifies that it decides the dwelling type of a person.
