Uma Maheswaram temple is also a famous Shiva temple and is located on the hills of Achampet village. The temple is about three kilometers away from Rangapuram and is on the Hyderabad and Srisailam Highway. It falls under the Achampet Mandal of Mahaboob Nagar District in Telengana.
This hill temple is known as Northern Gateway of Srisailam temple which is located in the Nallamala Forest Range. This place has spiritual importance. The place also finds mention in the Puranas and the Epics. It is believed that Lord Sri Rama started pradakshina of Srisailam from this place after killing Ravana in the battle ground.
The Uma Maheswaram temple got more fame during the period of Kakatiya rulers. The other attractive places to be visited by the tourists are the Papanashanam, waterfalls, Bhogamaheswaram and the caves where the sages did meditation to attain moksha i.e. salvation. The temple is surrounded by green trees and presents a nice scenic atmosphere for picnics and gives a pretty landscape picture to the artists.
