25 February 2015 Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple administration has planned to perform annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple At Tarigonda village, around 95 km from Tirupati from February 26th to March 6th.
After the initiatory ritual ‘Ankurarpanam’ on February 25 which have been noticed on Wednesday, the most important occasions to be observed through the 9-day occasion are
- February 26th Dhwajarohanam
- March 3rd Kalyanotsavam and Garuda Seva
- March 4th Rathotsavam and Dhooli Utsavam
- March 6th Dhwajavarohanam
- March 9th Pushpa Yagam
Tarigonda is the native place of the revolutionary saint-poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba, who made compositions on Lord Venkateswara and pioneered Annaprasadam distribution.
According to scriptures, the temple was consecrated by sage Durvasa, This temple was developed during the Chola kings who ruled south india.
By paying Rs.300 married couples can take part in the Kalyanotsavam on March 6 at 8 p.m. Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishat and Annamacharya Project will conduct religious and cultural programmes everyday during the festival.
