Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple Hours, History

Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desam/Vishnu temples which is situated on the banks of Pampa River in Aranmula village, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. It is believed that the idol of Sri Maha Vishnu was brought here in a raft made up of six bamboo. It is one of the five ancient shrines of Chengannur area and is well–known for its beauty. This temple is built in the traditional Kerala style.

Sri Parthasarathi Temple is dedicated to Sri Krishna. This temple is believed to be one of the five temples built by the Pandavas. The other four are Chengannur Thrichittatt Maha Vishnu Temple was built by Yudhishthira, Tiruppuliyur Maha Vishnu Temple built by Bheema, Aranmula was built by Arjuna, Tiruvanvandur Mahavishnu Temple was built by Nakula and Thrikodithanam Mahavishnu Temple built by Sahadeva. Aranmula temple was built by Arjuna to expiate the sin of killing Karna.

People need to climb 18 steps to reach the eastern tower. The northern tower is 57 steps high. Sreekovil is the main part of the temple that houses the deity. The temple is also famous for its mural paintings. These paintings belong to the early 18th century. The doors have paintings of Dwarpalakas. They are the guardian deities.

The other deities present in the temple are Sastha, Yakshi, Nagaraja and Erangavil Bhagavathy Balarama.

Aranmula Temple Dress Code:

A strict dress code is maintained in Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple.
For Men: Should wear dhoti. Shirts or upper garments must be kept at the temple counter before entering the temple.

For Women: Women must wear Saree, half saree and salwar kameez.

How to Reach Aranmula Krishna Temple:

By Air:
The nearest airport is at Thiruvananthapuram/Trivandrum International Airport is 116 km to the temple.

By Rail:
Chengannur Railway station is 10.4 km.

By Road:
Aranmula is 10 km away from Chengannur. Taxis and buses are available from this place to Aranmula. One can easily reach the temple in  30 minutes by bus.
