Sri Maha Vishnu is the presiding deity in Oppiliappan / Uppiliappan Temple. He is worshiped as Uppiliappan in this temple and he is in standing posture with Conch in one hand and Disc in another hand which is similar to Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Here the Lord can be seen with Abhaya Hastham (Boon giver). Bhoomi Devi and Sage Markandeya will be seen on either side of the deity. This is one of the 108 Divyadesas of Lord Perumal and has the added reputation of being the birth place – Avatara Sthala of Mother Bhoomadevi.
