Dakshina Shirdi Saibaba Temple or Nakshatra Saibaba Temple, situated on the banks of River Tungabhadra, is another famous Sai Baba temple located in Kothapeta, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. This is a 70 years old temple constructed in a star shape structure with a traditional Shikhara in the centre on the top. This temple attracts a large number of devotees and tourists alike to experience the serenity and beautiful architecture of the temple.
The Sai baba pristine white marble idol is 4 feet in tall in height. Srichakram is near the baba idol. On Thursdays, one can witness a more massive crowd in this temple. The foundation stone was laid by K. Veera Swamy Naidu in 1947 and Saibaba Statue was installed on Vijayadashami Day on the 10th of November 1951. This is the first baba temple in the world named Dakshina Shridi Sai Baba. All four aartis are held daily in the temple.
The temple has no walls and is open from all sides and has Akhanda Jyothi also called Nanda Deep, Dattatreya statue, Nine Avadhuta statues, Sai Dhuni and Ashwatha tree intertwined with neem tree which is a splendid sight. Every year on the day of Guru Poornima and Datta Jayanthi thousands of devotees from all over the country come to visit Shirdi Sai Baba and take his blessings. Annadhanam is offered in this temple.
Dasara Navaratri ustavalu, Dattajayanti, Gurupournami, Sri Rama Navami and other festivals are celebrated here. Konda Reddy Fort, Tomb of Abdul Wahab and Archaeological Museum Kurnool are the nearest places.
The complex also houses a meditation hall that can accommodate about 800 people at a time. The temple can be visited all year round, but it is best to avoid the monsoon season as the temple is close to the river Tungabhadra.
