Ganesh Jayanti 2022 February

Ganesha Jayanti is observed as the birthday of Sri Ganesha. According to the Hindu calendar, Shukla Chaturthi is observed during the lunar month Magha and currently coincides with the months of January and February in the Gregorian calendar.

Ganesha Jayanti during the month of Magha is mostly observed in Maharashtra and the coastal regions of Konkan. In most of India, Lord Ganesha’s birthday is observed during the month of Bhadrapada and is known as Ganesha Chaturthi. Like Ganesha Chaturthi, Madhyahna Vyapini Purvaviddha Chaturthi is considered Ganesha Jayanti.

It should be noted that Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the most famous festivals in Maharashtra, but it is not unanimously observed as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. It is Ganesha Jayanti during the month of Magha, which is considered the birthday of Lord Ganesha.

Ganesha Jayanti in Maharashtra is also known as Magha Shukla Chaturthi, Tilkund Chaturthi and Varad Chaturthi.Ganesha Jayanti
