History of the Temple:

In 1984, the Hindu community in Colorado grew to a considerable population and began the Hindu Society of Colorado. This group would gather in the homes of different members for spiritual discussions and worship of the deity. After that, for a short time, a house was rented in Aurora, deities were installed and the house served as a temple. The need for a real temple was present, so another group, the Hindu Temple and the Rocky Mountain Cultural Center (HTCC), was formed and merged with the Colorado Hindu Society in 1995.

In 1996, the group raised $ 100,000 to buy an old church building in Littleton for the much needed Colorado Temple. Also during this year, the publication of the temple bulletin, Mandir Vani, began. In 1997, the search for a full-time priest began, and in 1998, Acharya Kailash Upadhyay Ji was the new high priest. After the arrival of Upadhyay Ji, deities were installed and the temple began to function daily. This temple started successfully and the same year, the neighboring lot was bought. In 1999-2000, the Hindu temple site was put into operation and the number of worshipers and the mailing list increased significantly (about 1800 people). With this growth, temple activities for children and adults developed in 2001 with Bal Mandir and Yoga classes.

In 2002, the third batch was purchased and the conversation on a larger temple began. Unfortunately, this idea was rejected due to lack of available land (below 1 acre); Instead, in 2003, both floors were renovated and opened for use. In 2004-2005, parking was paved and a new temple committee was formed. Between 2006 and 2009 the Pundit Raghavendra Iyyer Ji joined (2006) as Priest Assistant, the third batch was sold and the land was purchased at Centennial (4.25 acres, $ 500,000, 1-30-2007), the Bhoomi Pooja was celebrated Samaroha (6-7-2007), the design of the new temple was completed (2008) and the site plan for construction (2009) was approved.
