Annual Brahmotsavams in Lord Kalyana Venkateswara Temple

10 February 2015 Srinivasa Mangapuram: The nine-day annual Brahmotsavams in Lord Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram, Tirupati started on a colourful note with Dhwajarohanam on Tuesday. The religious cermoney marked the occasion as devotes of the nearby villages gathered in a large numbers at the temple.

Dhwajarohanam be a sign of the beginning of any Brahmotsavam, as scripts say that hoisting the flag with the image of `Garuda’, the Lord’s divine carrier atop the temple flag post (Dhwajasthambam) would mark an invitation to all the gods beings to witness the holy festival.

The flag was hosted between 8.30 am to 9 am, in Meena Lagnam which is said to be an auspicious hour, by the priests by chanting of Vedic hymns and to the tune of devotional music.

The processional goddess of the Lord was beautifully dressed up with rare ornaments befitting the occasion flanked by equally and elegantly dressed consorts. Later, the deity was taken in a procession around the Kalyana Venkateswara temple.

The Lord’s deity was taken around the temple on `Pedda Sesha vahanam’ in the evening.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Executive Officer Dr D.Samba Siva Rao, Tirupati Joint Executive Officer Mr. P.Bhaskar, Dy Executive Officer Mr.E.C.Sreedhar and other officials were present on the occasion.

Floral Expo A Special Attraction at the annual Brahmotsavam:

A floral exhibition was arranged by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Garden wing, which stood as a special attraction at the event.

Colourful dioramas made out of tens of thousands of varieties of flowers. The mythological themes are Bheema-Duryodhana Yudham, Lord Anjaneya entering the mouth of Surasa, Lord Vishnu in the guise of Mohini distributing Amrita to deities and demons, Lord Srinivasa as Tribal woman in Padmavathi-Srinivasa Kalyana Ghattam etc.

All these themes attracted pilgrims and devotees who were present at the temple to witness Srinivasa Mangapuram brahmotsavams.
