த்⁴யாநம் ।
த்⁴யாயேந்நித்யம் மஹேஶம் ரஜதகி³ரிநிப⁴ம் சாருசந்த்³ராவதம்ஸம்
ரத்நாகல்போஜ்ஜ்வலாங்க³ம் பரஶும்ருʼக³வராபீ⁴திஹஸ்தம் ப்ரஸந்நம் ।
பத்³மாஸீநம் ஸமந்தாத்ஸ்துதமமரக³ணைர்வ்யாக்⁴ரக்ருʼத்திம் வஸாநம்
விஶ்வாத்³யம் விஶ்வபீ³ஜம் நிகி²லப⁴யஹரம் பஞ்சவக்த்ரம் த்ரிநேத்ரம் ॥

பஶுபதீந்து³பதிம் த⁴ரணீபதிம் பு⁴ஜக³லோகபதிம் ச ஸதீ பதிம் ॥
க³ணத ப⁴க்தஜநார்தி ஹரம் பரம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 1॥
ந ஜநகோ ஜநநீ ந ச ஸோத³ரோ ந தநயோ ந ச பூ⁴ரிப³லம் குலம் ॥
அவதி கோঽபி ந காலவஶம் க³தம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 2॥
முரஜடி³ண்டி³வாத்³யவிலக்ஷணம் மது⁴ரபஞ்சமநாத³விஶாரத³ம் ॥
ப்ரத²மபூ⁴த க³ணைரபி ஸேவிதம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 3॥
ஶரணத³ம் ஸுக²த³ம் ஶரணாந்விதம் ஶிவ ஶிவேதி ஶிவேதி நதம் ந்ருʼணாம் ॥

நரஶிரோரசிதம் மணிகுண்ட³லம் பு⁴ஜக³ஹாரமுத³ம் வ்ருʼஷப⁴த்⁴வஜம் ॥
சிதிரஜோத⁴வளீ க்ருʼத விக்³ரஹம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 5॥
முக²விநாஶங்கரம் ஶஶிஶேக²ரம் ஸததமக்⁴வரம் பா⁴ஜி ப²லப்ரத³ம் ॥

மத³ம பாஸ்ய சிரம் ஹ்ருʼதி³ ஸம்ஸ்தி²தம் மரண ஜந்ம ஜரா ப⁴ய பீடி³தம் ॥
ஜக³து³தீ³க்ஷ்ய ஸமீபப⁴யாகுலம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 7॥
ஹரிவிரிஞ்சிஸுராதி⁴ம்ப பூஜிதம் யமஜநேஶத⁴நேஶநமஸ்க்ருʼதம் ॥
த்ரிநயநம் பு⁴வந த்ரிதயாதி⁴பம் ப⁴ஜத ரே மநுஜா கி³ரிஜாபதிம் ॥ 8॥
பஶுபதேரித³மஷ்டகமத்³பு⁴தம் விரிசித ப்ருʼதி²வீ பதி ஸூரிணா ॥
பட²தி ஸம்ஶ்ருʼநுதே மநுஜ: ஸதா³ ஶிவபுரிம் வஸதே லப⁴தே முத³ம் ॥ 9॥
Pashupatya Ashtakam Meaning :
Dhyanam: One should meditate upon Mahesa, Who is eternal, Whose complexion resembles Mount Kailasa, Who has a beautiful moon on forehead, Whose bright organs are decorated by jewels, Who has an axe, a deer, boon and fearlessness in hands, Who is gracious, Who is sitting on a lotus, Who is continuously eulogized by the devagana (demi-gods), Who has a cloth made of tiger-skin, Who is the beginning of the universe, Who is the cause of the universe, Who absolves all the fears, Who has five heads, and Who has three eyes (on every head). || 1 ||
Stotram:
Fallen Men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who is the Lord of beings and moon, Who is the Lord of the earth, Who is the Lord of Nagaloka, Who is the Lord of Satī, Who absolves the troubles of devotees fallen onto feet, and Who is the supreme Lord. || 1 ||
Not father, not mother or not even siblings, not son, not strength or not even the lineage protect anyone. All of these are indeed captive of Kala (time). Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija. || 2 ||
Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who is unique in playing Muraja and Dindima drums, Who is learned in the five essentials of sound, and Who is indeed served by a multitude of tormentors and ghosts. || 3 ||
Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who bestows refuge, Who bestows bliss, Who is possessed of giving refuge, Who is saluted by men chanting ‘Siva Siva Siva’, Who is bestows fearlessness, and Who is the house of water (ocean) of compassion. || 4 ||
Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who is decorated by human skulls, Who has jewels in earhoop, Who is glad by a garland of snake, Who has a bull on His flag, and Whose form is made white by smudged ashes from a funeral pile. || 5 ||
Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who caused the destruction of the sacrifice of Daksa, Who has moon on forehead, Who always bestows result on those participating in sacrifice, and Who burns demi-gods, demons and humans during deluge. || 6 ||
Having discarded old pride situated inside heart, and having looked upon the world as troubled by fear of birth, death, old-age and near to men anxious of fear — O fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija. || 7 ||
Fallen men! Adore the consort of Girija, Who is the King of Hari (Visnu), Viranci (Brahma and demi-gods, Who is worshipped, Who is saluted by Yamaraja, kings and Kubera, Who has three eyes, and Who is the King of the three worlds. || 8 ||
