26 January 2015 Tirupati: On Monday 26 January Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam maintained temples in Tirupati and surrounding Tirupati has observed ‘Rathasapthami’ in a grand manner.
The religious event was celebrated Sri Govindaraja Swami Temple, Tiruchanur Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru Temple and Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram.
Similar to Tirumala hills, the specialty of the day right here is the idols had been carried in a vibrant procession across the respective temples on seven celestial carriers from daybreak to nightfall which was witnessed by scores of pilgrims.
The day started with the procession of Chakrathalwar from Sri Govindaraja temple to Kapila Theertham for a holy bath. The celebration starting with Surya Prabha, the deity of Govindaraja was taken on Hamsa Vahanam, Hanumantha Vahanam, Pedda Sesha Vahanam, Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam, Sarvabhoopala Vahanam and Garuda vahanam.
The idol of the Goddess was taken out in a procession on Ashwa Vahanam (horse) at Suryanarayana shrine at Tiruchanur.
