Ravana Shila is above Tungnath temple, there is a small temple known as Chandra Shila. Ravana Shila or Talking Mountain has its own historical significance related to Ramayana. After killing Asura Ravanaasura, Rama felt guilty for what he had done. He then began to perform austerities for Lord Shiva and asked Lord Shiva to release him from the guilt of killing the asura king Ravana. During his penance, he built the Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.
