Sri Polamamba Ammavari Temple is a famous Shakti temple located at Sambara Village, Makkuva, Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh. Sambara Polamamba is a Grama Devata (Goddess of Village). Sambara Village is 20 km from Salur, Vizianagaram district. Archana, Abhishekam and Kumkumarchana are performed every day.
Every year on preceding Thursday of Pongal/Sankranti festival Polamamba is brought Village. Since Polamamba is born in Sambara Village. All the villagers will be treating Polamamba as the daughter of the village. As there is a tradition that every girl will come to their parent’s house for the Sankranthi festival. Till next Tuesday from the beginning pujas performed in temple and devotees will be taking Darshan of Goddess. Next Tuesday (ie. Third Tuesday) Sirimanotsavam will be performed.
Devotees visit this temple to seek fulfillment of getting married to a person of a girl’s choice, health and longevity of husband. Sambara Polamma Jatara is an annual festival attended by a large number of people from the surrounding areas. It is the second biggest Jatara in the Vizianagaram district after Pydithalli Ammavari Jatara. Along with local people, thousands of devotees visit here from Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Sirimanu Utsavam, Tholellu, Sankranthi, Dasara and Ugadi are some of the festivals celebrated in a grand manner. Laddu and Pulihora prasad are offered in the temple.
