Colonia Shree Swaminarayan Temple History:
Satsang in the New York / New Jersey area began in 1978 with the first visit of His Holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendrapadadji Maharaj to the United States.
With some families in full submission to His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree, the vision has been established to build a temple for spiritual aspirants in America’s most densely populated Indian community. Years have passed with this vision at the heart of the growing number of Satsangi families in central New Jersey. After twenty years of the first visit of His Holiness Acharya Maharajshree, the dream of building a Swaminarayan Mandir of Shikhar-bandh has been achieved with majesty, with the grace of God and the selfless dedication of many volunteers.
Today, the mandir is a milestone in the Indian community for countless families in the NY / NJ / PA area. Weekly spiritual sessions and daily sermons have left an indelible mark on the lives of many. In addition, the facilities offer the opportunity to include cultural and social activities in our auspicious aura Mandir.
The ceremony of installation of idols in the temple was performed by the shrine Acharya 1008 Shree Koshalendraprasadji Maharaj. The main idol of NarNarayan Dev is a replica of the NarNarayan Dev idol in Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Kalupur-Ahmedabad. The idol Divine Abhishek was interpreted by the holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Koshalendraprasadji Maharaj, the HIERARCHY RETIRED Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendraprasadji Maharaj and Holiness Lalji Maharaj Vrajendraprasadji. The Murti Pratistha was celebrated in the presence of thousands of people from all over the world with great splendor.
To this date devotees of all denominations including, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. come for the divine darshan of Lord Swaminarayan.
