About Maharshi Veda Vyasa:
Vyasa mostly known as Maharshi Veda Vyasa is perhaps the greatest sage in the history of the Hindu religion. He edited the 4 Vedas, wrote 18 Puranas, the epic Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavatam and even taught Dattatreya, considered the “guru of gurus”.
Hindu mythology mentions up to 28 Vyasas before the birth of Veda Vyasa at the end of Dvapara Yuga. Also known as Krishna Dvaipayana, Vyasa was born to sage Parashara and her mother Matsyakanya-Satyavati Devi in a exceptional circumstances. Parashara was one of the supreme authorities in astrology and his book, Parashara Hora, is a textbook of astrology even in the modern era. He also wrote a writing known as Parashara Smriti, which is held in such high esteem that even modern experts in sociology and ethics cite it.

kalimalastavivekadivakaram samavalokya tamovalitam janam ।
karunaya bhuvi darsitavigraham munivaram guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 1 ॥
bharatavamsasamuddharanecchaya svajananivacasa parinoditah ।
ajanayattanayatritayam prabhuh sukanutam guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 2 ॥
matibaladi niriksya kalau nrnam laghutaram krpaya nigamambudheh ।
samakarodiha bhagamanekadha srutipatim guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 3 ॥
sakaladharmanirupanasagaram vividhacitrakathasamalankrtam ।
vyaracayacca puranakadambakam kavivaram guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 4 ॥
srutivirodhasamanvayadarpanam nikhilavadimatandhyavidaranam ।
grathitavanapi sutrasamuhakam munisutam guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 5 ॥
yadanubhavavasena divangatah samadhigamya mahastrasamuccayam ।
kurucamumajayadvijayo drutam dyutidharam guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 6 ॥
samaravrttavibodhasamihaya kuruvarena muda krtayacanah ।
sapatisutamadadamaleksanam kaliharam guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 7 ॥
vananivasaparau kurudampati sutasuca tapasa ca vikarsitau ।
mrtatanujaganam samadarsayan saranadam guruvyasamaham bhaje ॥ 8 ॥
vyasastakamidam punyam brahmanandena kirtitam ।
yah pathenmanujo nityam sa bhavecchastraparagah ॥
