Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy, the lion-man Avatar of Sri Vishnu is the main deity in this 11th century ancient temple. This temple is one of the 18 Narasimha Kshetras, of Lord Narasimha, in India. The presiding deity is always covered with sandalwood paste all the year, and the nijaroopa darshan can be seen for only 12 hours in a year. On Akshaya Tritiya Day, the presiding deity is again covered with sandalwood paste. The festival of ‘Chandana yatra’ or ‘Chandanotsavam’ falls every year in Vaisakha (April/May).
