Hatkeshwar Temple located in Vadnagar, Gujarat. Vadnagar Hatkeshwar Temple is an extremely valuable temple of Hindu devotees. This 17th-century pilgrimage outside the city is dedicated to Hatkeshwar Mahadev, the chief deity of the Vadnagar Brahmins. The temple has the linga of Lord Shiva. The Hatakeshwar temple is built in the Indian classical style.

This temple is about 1800 years old. It is said that the genital organ of Sri Hatakeshwar Mahadev goes to the bottom of the earth which is believed to have emerged itself. The main idol of the Hatkeshwar temple is that of Lord Shiva. This temple was built in 1402 by Naga King Hariraj Naik.

Sri Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple History:

According to legend, the Naga king who built the Hatkeshwar temple was the grandfather of King Baburao. Many believe that King Baburao assisted his father Arjuna to build the Hatkeshwar temple in the city of Vadnagar.

The temple is a national heritage with artistic carvings inside and outside the temple. Beautiful craftsmanship and stone carvings describe the ancient stories differently.

By Road: One can take local or state transport buses and reach Vadnagar. The city is 111 km from Ahmedabad and 47 km from Mehsana. National Highways 16 and 43 connect Ahmedabad with some important cities of Vadnagar.

By Rail: Siddhapur is a railway station on Ahmedabad – New Delhi railway line, 42 km from Vadnagar.
