Full moon day in Ashadha month is known as Vyasa Pooja day. Traditionally this day is earmarked for Guru Puja or Guru Worship. On this day, disciples offer puja and pay respect to their Gurus. Guru here refers to spiritual guide who enlighten his disciples by his knowledge and teachings.
Vyasa Puja is also called Vyasa Purnima. This day is observed as the birth anniversary of Sage Veda Vyasa, the author of the popular Hindu epic Mahabharata.
