Tuljapur Tuljabhavani Temple Timings, History | Shakti Peetha

Tulja Bhavani Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth, dedicated to the goddess Bhavani. Tuljapur Tuljabhavani Temple is an ancient temple located in Tuljapur, Osmanabad district in the state of Maharashtra. Here Aai Tulja Bhavani is also called Tulaja, Turaja, Tvarita, Amba and Jagadamba. Mata Durga (Parvathi) is worshipped as Tulja Bhavani in parts of Maharashtra, by Rajputs of North Gujarat, Telangana, Northern Karnataka, Western Rajasthan and Punjab states.

Bhavani means “giver of life”, meaning the power of nature or the source of creative energy. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is an ardent follower of Aai. Mother Goddess Tulja Bhavani is one amongst four Shakti Peethas the other temples are Mahur Renuka Devi Temple, Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Ambabai Temple and the Vani Saptashrungi temple. Devotees believe she protects them from the sins of evil desires, selfishness, jealousy, hatred, anger and ego.

The idol is 3 feet tall, holding different attributes in eight hands. Raja Shahaji Mahadwar and Rajmata Jijau are the 2 entrances to reach the goddess.
