Vembu Amman Festival:
(Worship of Vembu Amman is the Medicinal Cure for all miseries)
Our ancestors have glorified the prowess of Maha Shakthi in the form of Universal Mother, the cause and protector of the entire creation. In their earnest endeavours in honouring Her, they conducted various festivals and attained salvation. One such ancient festival, steeped in tradition and significance is called Kambam Satruthal in Tamil, which translates as offerings made onto a trident-shaped margosa branch -Vembu. Another important feature of this festival is the fact that it provides a unique, social and family opportunity for everyone, both the young and the elderly to participate together. This further helps underscore the need to upkeep family and community cohesion. In line with the Pookaragam, Agni Kapparai festivals conducted in honour of the Mother Goddess in many other magnificent Amman temples in the world, in terms of importance, the Vembu Amman Festival can be compared to the Fire-Walking festival.
Vembu Amman Festival in Our Temple:
It is only with the boundless grace of our Mother Goddess Sree Maha Mariamman, the one who dwells within the artistically constructed holy abode in Singapore crowned with Her 108 Sakthi Kalasams, that this colourful festival has been made a part of the Aadipooram Maha Brahmotsavam, which is the prime and grandest event in the Temple’s Calendar of Events.
Devotee Offerings and Benefits: Black Pepper (Milagu) and Salt are the key offerings associated with the Vembu Amman festival. Troubles, ailments, difficulties, evil effects of jealousy and disillusionment are all removed. These are replaced by happiness, peace, wealth and divine blessings to devotees who participate with sincere faith and discipline.
