Brhaspati or Brihaspati or Bruhaspati, also known as the guru of the gods and Chakshas, is a Hindu god and a Vedic deity. He is considered as the personification of piety and religion and the chief “offering of prayers and sacrifices to the gods”, with which he intercedes in the name of humanity.
He is the guru of the gods and the sworn enemy of Shukracharya, the demon guru. He is also known as Ganapati and Guru, the god of wisdom and eloquence.
He is described as yellow or golden color and has the following divine attributes: a staff, a lotus and beads. He presides over ‘Guru-var’ or Thursday.
In astrology, Brhaspati is the ruler of Jupiter and is often identified with the planet.
