In Hinduism, the goddess Annapoorna, or Annapurna Devi, is the goddess of food. She is an avatar of the goddess Parvati devi; in essence, one of the many forms of Shakti. In this avatar, she feeds all living beings and, therefore, Hindus regard “Annam” (food) as sacred.
