Hasanamba temple is a famous temple dedicated to the Goddess Shakti or Amba, situated in Hassan, Karnataka. She is also considered a Sapta Matrika in this region. Here Amba is served with a lit lamp, food, two bags full of rice, few flowers for the rest of the year. The specialty of the temple is that the lamp lit this year will be alive until the temple reopens next year. Even the flowers retain their freshness and the rice never gets rotten all year round.
The Hasanamba temple opens each year on Thursday after Ashwin Purnima according to the traditional Hindu calendar followed in Karnataka and closes after 8 days on Balipadyami day.
