Purusha Sukta Homam is performed to eliminate complications during pregnancy or to eliminate obstacles in the progeny. If there is a delay in the offspring and in case of complication, this offer is made to get rid of the negativity. Purusha Sukta Puja is designed for healthy and intelligent children. This pooja is conducted by your name on your behalf, to beget a child. Those who are expecting will also perform this pooja for a healthy and intelligent child.
Purusha Sukta Homam is dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu. Only Lord Maha Vishnu himself entrusted the knowledge of this homa to Sanatkumara, who in turn instructed the sage Bodhayana. It is said in the Suta Samhita:
Putrapradam Aputraanaam Jayadam Jayakaaminaam Bhuktidam Bhuktikaamaanaam Mokshadam Moksha Kaaminaam
This means that those who wish progeny, success in endeavors, worldly enjoyment and the final emancipation shall attain it by performing this Pooa. It is said that one attains this human birth by performing meritorious deeds in the past lives. In order to continue the lineage of ours it is necessary that we be blessed with healthy progeny. The homam is said to be equivalent to the Putra kameshti yagna narrated in the Ramayana in providing healthy progeny to the performer.
Sanatanagopala Homam is practiced when there are obstacles or delay in the progeny and some complications occur during pregnancy. It’s for couples who want to have a child. Those who wait can also make this offer for healthy and intelligent children. It is one of the most prescribed homams for progeny.
In this homam, Lord Vishnu in the form of Gopala Krishna is worshiped with Tulasi leaves. First, the recitals of Purusha Sooktam are made. Purusha Sookta is the Vedic mantra of Lord Vishnu and is recited in most homams. This is followed by the recitation of Santana Gopala’s moola mantra and homam. This homam is very effective for those who have design problems and wish to have children. Those who have children do it for all the progress and benefits of children.
