ఉగస్య ఆది: ఉగాది: “ఉగ” అనగా నక్షత్ర గమనము – జన్మ – ఆయుష్షు అని అర్థాలు. వీటికి ‘ఆది’ ‘ఉగాది’. అనగా ప్రపంచము యొక్క జన్మ ఆయుష్షులకు మొదటిరోజు కనుక ఉగాది అయినది. యుగము’ అనగా రెండు లేక జంట అని కూడా అర్ధము. ఉత్తరాయణ, దక్షిణాయనములనబడే ఆయన ద్వయ సంయుతం ‘యుగం’ (సంవత్సరం) కాగా, ఆ యుగానికి ఆది యుగాది అయింది. అదే సంవత్సరాది.
