Jatayu according to the Ramayana was a bird who was the son of Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s mythical bird, and the king of the vultures; he is also attributed to being the son of Aruna. He was an ally of Rama and fought Ravana furiously to prevent him from abducting Sīta, but was overpowered and left mortally wounded.
Jatayu Earth’s Center, Chadayamangalam:
Jatayu Earth Center hosts the largest bird sculpture in the world spreading over 65 acres over four hills, this is the state’s first BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) tourism.
Jatayu Earth Center is located in Chadayamangalam, Kollam, Kerala. The monumental statue of Jatayu that rests on top of the hill catches your eye even from afar on your way to Chadayamangalam in the Kollam district. Jatayu is a legendary bird from the Indian epic Ramayana.
One can reach the top of the hill using a cable car. A multitude of experiences awaits the traveler at Jatayu Rock. One of them is the museum and the 6D theater inside the sculpture. You can even have a hele taxi experience here!

Jatayu Earth’s Center is a 1000 feet giant rock. The Jatayu sculpture in this hill has a length of 200 feet and a width of 150 feet. The height of the giant statue is 70 feet. Inside the functional sculpture is a 15000 sq feet utility space.

Jatayu Earth’s Center Attractions:
The major attraction of the hill is a long hour trek through the private forest. An audiovisual museum is built in the second hill too and it spreads over five levels. Major attractions include rappelling, shooting, bouldering, rifle shooting, jumpering, chimney climbing, log walking, etc.
Elephant Rock Hill has tented camps for overnight stay. It has a 250-meter long zip-line zone and sky cycling. Campfire, moon-lit dinner, live music, and live kitchen are the major attractions of the hill. Visitors can also be a part of the forestation.
The fourth hill has a traditional Siddha rejuvenation with accommodation facilities inside the cave that offers a ten-day Siddha rejuvenation package. There is a herbal garden with a wide variety of plants. The fourth hills also have a five-level spanned audio-visual museum built inside the sculpture. At the hill, you get to be part of the protection and preservation of the natural ecosystem.
Jatayu Earth’s Center Do’s / Trekking Instructions:
- Wear comfortable shoes with firm rubber/grip soles.
- Wear proper attire, like sportswear, shorts or jogger’s suits.
- Wear caps or headgear.
- Carry Hand towels.
Jatayu Earth’s Center Dont’s:
- Avoid wearing any jewelry/valuables (loose ornaments as it could be a potential hazard during activities).
- Strictly No loose hairs, please advise all long hair individuals to tight their hair or wear a headscarf.
- During activities, mobile phone users will not be entertained as they tend to distract the participants.
- Follow strictly the instructions given by the marshal/guides, as “Your Safety Is Our Priority”.
- Time management will be advised and need to be followed strictly.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted. - Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited, guest if found intoxicated will not be allowed to do any activities.
- Kids below 12 years are not permitted to do adventure activities and the minimum age for paintball is 14 years old with parent’s consent, from 16 and up no parental consent is required.

Chadayamangalam is located on Main Central (MC) Road, connecting Angamaly (Ernakulam district) and Kesavadasapuram, Thiruvananthapuram district. Buses are available from major bus stations in the state.
