Guptha Mallikarjunam, located at about 36 Km from Srisailam, is a beautiful place with picturesque background and amazing waterfalls.
During medieval period, the sacred complex of Srisailam provided shelter to several secret saivaite sects who performed secret yogic practice in such remote places like Guptha Mallikarjunam. The word Guptha means secret and hence the name of such places derived.
There is a shallow cave in this place which has a small shrine of Siva and also a broken idol of Ganapathi.
Srisaila Khanda of Skanda Purana mentions about this place and called it as Guptha Mallikarjunam. It is believed that by just having a vision of this place one will become free from all sins.
