The idol of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Sametha Padmavathi Devi has been installed and is of 200 years old ancient temple situated on the hill named Kaligiri at about 12 Kms from Chittoor Town on the way to Kadapa. The temple of Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located at the top of Kaligiri hill. It is a very old temple. The Kaligiri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located at almost 2000 feet above sea level.
Kaligiri Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple History:
There are three historical says about this temple. One can witness a small rare precious stone which belongs to Lord Venkateswara Swamy Idol at Thirumala. It will be in the form of thilaka shape. The precious stone is placed on the foot of the Lord. It’ is believed that the stone was brought here by some Devathas (Angels).
The second say is that Lord Venkateswara Swamy along with Goddess Padmavathi Devi visited and stayed at this place for a while during their journey to Thirumala. There is an ancient pond beside the temple. Near the pond a huge foot impression is there on a rock it is nearly 3 feet long. Ganga was born at the feet of Maha Vishnu and was formed as a perennial pushkarini. The devotees bathed in this Pushkarini.
Many Devotees donated cows to the Temple Devasthanam. The cows stays at night near the temple and goes out for gaze in the morning with out any guidance of any cowherd. This is happening since from years.

Special Pooja are held every Saturday during the Months of September and October for 5 days.
