Kalipatti Kandaswamy Temple also known as Kalipatti Temple is an ancient and famous Temple located in Kalipatti, Salem, Tamil Nadu State. Lord Murugan is worshipped as Kandaswamy Temple. This temple is one of the richest temples in Salem. The temple is 22 km away from Salem.
Kalipatti Kandaswamy Temple was founded by Pazhani Kavundar and built by Lakshmana Kavundar in the 18th century.
It is believed that the devotees who come to this place are healed by a mystical process using “karum sambal”. It is derived from the venom of a snake and is believed to act as an antidote.
Kandaswamy temple is decorated with chariots called Chithra Ther and Vinayaka Ther. During festivals, chariots are pulled around the temple. During the Thaipusam festival in January, a cattle fair is held at the temple. This is considered the most important cattle fair in the country.
